Information We May Collect
At The Mattress Authority, we collect both personally-identifiable information and non-personal identifiable information from our readers. Below, we explain exactly what each type of information entails, and how we collect it.
Personally-identifiable information is the type of information that helps us identify you as an individual. Personally-identifiable information includes: full name, e-mail address, physical address, phone number, workplace, and gender.
Acquiring Personally-Identifiable Information
We do not, usually, collect personally-identifiable information. The reader’s permission will be asked beforehand, in case this ever happens. Personally-identifiable information only needs to be collected when a user comments or posts on our forums, when they create an account on The Mattress Authority, or when they sign up to receive our newsletter.
Using our comments section does not require your personal information, since the section is public. Whenever you leave a comment, you should not provide your physical address, full name, e-mail address, phone number, or current location.
With non-personal information, we cannot identify you as a user. This type of information is also known as “log files.” Log files are created every time you visit The Mattress Authority. These files include: IP address, date and time of access, browser type, and the last page you visited on our website.
Sharing Information with Third Parties
We will never share information related to any of our users with a third party. The only exceptions are situations in which we are required by law to do so, or situations in which we notice a user performing suspicious activities that may or may not be deemed illegal as well.
There are places on our website where you can input your personal or business information. This information includes name, address (both physical and e-mail), and so on. Any decision to provide such information is entirely voluntary. We strive to make our services available without the need for personal data from our users. Moreover, we forbid third parties to send information to the physical address, e-mail address, phone number, or fax number of any of our users that they may find on our pages, as long as the user has not requested it specifically.
